Huma Onorato honored to represent DC on the Emerging Bank Leaders Council

Huma Onorato was honored to represent the District of Columbia on the Emerging Bank Leaders Council at the ABA Washington Summit in Washington, DC this week.

“I’m grateful to Founders Bank for supporting my attendance and giving me the opportunity to be part of important conversations shaping the future of our industry,” said Huma. Key discussions at the summit focused on stablecoin policy, the SCAM Act, which would hold social media and telecom companies accountable for fraudulent ads, and concerns around a proposed 10% interest rate cap that could unintentionally limit access to credit for many Americans.

A consistent theme throughout the summit was protecting access to credit and ensuring banks can continue supporting local lending and economic opportunity. She also appreciated the opportunity to meet with legislators and their teams, and their openness to hearing directly from bankers.

Huma shared, “It was great connecting with fellow members of the Emerging Bank Leaders Council from across the country. I’m also grateful to the Virginia Bankers Association for supporting my participation, and a special shoutout to my Bank School bestie, Chandler Owdom. The Virginia Bankers Association is fortunate to have Chandler’s leadership and dedication representing its members.”
